SEVEN SINS OF GOODLUCK JONATHAN- D.O. MBA

Having carefully watched the political drama in Nigeria as it unfolds with underlining lessons, it is necessary I also write the President of Nigeria as Obasanjo did, and point out his seven sins and why the self-made kingmakers are out for his jugular. Jonathan is from the minority area and even in Bayelsa State, Otueke is in the minority, that is, minority to the third degree. The President of Nigeria has been a special preserve for Hausa/Fulani and for you to be the President, you must come from that region else it will be made ungovernable for you or blood will flow as it is flowing in the North East zone of the country.
They apparently refused to inform Nigerians whose blood will flow in 2015, if the president decides to run. It is also interesting to know that since 1960, leadership of the country rested with Hausa/Fulani either in Khaki or Agbada with exception of Obasanjo, who was imposed on Nigeria by the military cabal. Nobody ever heard, said, or knew about an organised criminal killer squad, known as Boko Haram. Jonathan saw himself as a President of Democratic Nigeria where the Rule of law ought to prevail unlike his predecessors who saw governance and election as a do or die affair; being a carry-over from perceived military background or born to rule concept. The Odi massacre, the Zaki Biam experiment, the refusal to release allocations meant for Lagos State despite court orders to that effect and removal of perceived enemies without due process of law by EFCC etc are evidence to show how a good Nigerian leader should be evaluated, and this is the President’s second sin. Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda is affecting positively the generality of Nigerians. Examples abound, but to mention a few, consider the construction of Second Niger Bridge and opening of an International Airport at Enugu, which are beneficial to Easterners, thereby negating a hidden policy of continuous punishing of the vanquished, could well be one of the sins of Jonathan.

The impact of this administration is presently being felt in every sector of our economy, such as Aviation, Transport, Education, Health, etc and what have you; at least for now. Jonathan has not built mansion at the Hill Top or opened a library with taxpayers money while in office. All these and more are Jonathan’s sins, for which he ought to be crucified. Jonathan is too gentle for a Nigeria leader, unlike some of his predecessors, who are known to be so temperamental that     their best friends or benefactors could be removed for     daring to oppose their views; more so, if such view does not favour the oligarchy. It is my considered opinion that most of the self-imposed leaders calling for the head of Jonathan would have sent most of their critics behind bars or put them to trial for Treason if they were in Jonathan’s shoes. Nigerians have learnt to live with a hidden social stratification within their country, which the president pretends not to know. Undoubtedly we have first, second and third class citizens, depending on the geographical location you come from, whereby people are not assessed or evaluated by the content of their brain, rather evidence of birth.
Hence, in 1979, Umaru Dikko was comfortable to tell Abiola that a rich man must learn to be the friend of a king, but if the rich man wants to be a king, he should be shown the way out. When Abiola wanted to be king, he was shown the way out. The rest, as they say, is history.  The Jonathan administration has embarked on even development of the country better than most of his  predecessors, and that is his sixth sin. Even the recent messenger of doom who decided to advise his boy in public is responsible for Jonathan’s problems. While arrogating to himself the custodian of solutions to Nigeria’s problems, one shall remind him to solve his family problem first because charity begins at home. When a person had tested the leadership of this great country three times and plotted the 4th, yet he has the moral right to demand that his successor promised him to do one tenure; as if God has ordained him to decide who becomes what in Nigeria, it leaves more answers than questions. The only consolation is that Obasanjo and his group can only boast of one vote each. The era of landslide and “seaslide” victories is gone forever. Nigerians are becoming wiser by the day. The 7th sin of Jonathan is his ability to drop the feeding     bottle given him in 2011 when he properly took the mantle of leadership. He is trying to be his own man and carve out his name boldly in Nigeria’s history. Most of his opponents nurse selfish ambitions that have nothing to do with the downtrodden in     Nigeria. The common man in the street is not interested where the president comes from. Whoever can fix unemployment, bad roads, electricity problems, high cost of living and insecurity in the country is the need of the common man. Corruption has been with us. It did not start with Jonathan neither will it stop with him. Obasanjo’s letter was not “a bomb”, as most people may think. It shows a man that wants to remain relevant at all times. In 1979, the same Obasanjo referred to my generation as leaders of tomorrow, now my generation is old. Obasanjo and his “league of king makers” should be advised to allow the young generation of Nigerians hold the steering. They have made their mark and contributed to the so-called “national     development” and shall leave the stage before it is too late. We are celebrating Mandela as the best African     leadership example and I am wondering if Nigeria was South     Africa whether Mandela would have contemplated such letter to Zuma through public domain. Finally, apart from corruption and insincerity, the next problem of Nigeria is self righteousness.
I pray you learn fast from your sins and be ready to contest 2015 elections, neither blood nor heaven will fall. Some people advising you against election 2015 neither believe in equity nor Nigerian constitution which gives everybody equal opportunity. The so called “king makers” do not decide elections anymore and they are indirectly campaigning for you. Nigerians are wiser. Your party (PDP) has been a disappointment in some states, particularly in Abia State, and they not helping your case.
A journey of 14 kilometers between Arochukwu and Ohafia takes four hours due to bad roads. The attendant hardship is one of the failures of PDP in governance, hence the agitation in most states formerly controlled by PDP as a party. Be assured that the battle of 2015 shall be fought on a personal note and based on achievements. Most Nigerians admire your courage and calmness in the midst of provocation. Be strong and more courageous, a man is not known by his size but the quality of his heart.
