Computer Virus Wipes Out INEC Registration Data

The registration data of 129 people in existing polling units in Ika South Local government area of Delta State has been wiped out by virus. People who came out to collect their permanent voter’s cards were left disappointed as they could not go back with one.
While speaking on the development, the President of Agbor Progressive Initiative in the State, Mr Williams Eghebi said it was a calculated attempt to disenfranchise the people and it’s so unfortunate that majority of the people may not be able to register.

However, the Chief Public Affairs Officer of INEC in Delta State, Mr. Livy Unuibe allayed the fears of the people while also dismissing the insinuation of any hidden agenda, stating that the corrupting of the system by the virus was not man-made. He also emphasized a fresh registration will be carried out in the area, for everything to be back in order.
